Spaghetti, Shrimps and Squid Rings in Tomato Sauce Recipe

I'm gonna share an easy and tasteful pasta recipe that I'm preparing today. The fridge is empty - it's supermarket day today however, I can't leave home for some reason. So what am I gonna eat? Well, taking a look at the freezer... Ah! There are some shrimps and squid rings left... Four tomatoes in the fridge. And spaghetti in the kitchen cabinet.

OK. I'm going to prepare something quick, easy but tasteful with these ingredients : spaghetti with shrimp & squid rings in tomato sauce.

You'll need these ingredients to prepare this pasta and seafood recipe:

  • Spaghetti
  • Peeled shrimps (or scampi)
  • Squid rings
  • Fresh diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, pepper, fine herbs, powdered garlic to taste
  • 1 cube dehydrated fish stock
  • 1/2 Sugar - Stevia works pretty well too (I use it)
  • Grated Emmenthal or Gruyere cheese to taste

Directions to make this spaghetti recipe:

In a pan, heat olive oil on medium heat
Pour tomato dice and simmer until smooth
Then add fish stock, salt, pepper, herbs and sugar
Cook for a few minutes
When fish stock cube has melted, add shrimps and squid rings and cook for 15 up to 20 minutes on low heat

In the meantime:

Cook spaghetti until al dente (follow the instructions on the pack)

Here you are : your dinner's ready. Serve pasta with the sauce and seafood and sprinkle grated cheese on it.

You probably noticed that I didn't specify quantities - apart from the sugar - this is for one reason: my tastes aren't the same as yours, the quantities I eat aren't the same as yours.

For example, in Italy, pasta is served as a starter. In my country, pasta is served as main dish. However, you might want to prepare it like Italians do or just want to give the recipe a try as dinner for the whole family tonight.

Therefore, you'll adapt the quantities to your needs.

However, I'd say that 6 shrimps, 6 squid rings and 2 tomatoes per person are ideal quantities for a main dish while 1 Pound pasta is ideal for 2 servings.
